YouTube Mom Ruby Franke to Enter Guilty Plea in Child Abuse Case, Confirms Attorney

In an unexpected turn of events, Ruby Franke, a popular YouTube personality facing several counts of aggravated child abuse, has broken her silence through her attorney, LaMar Winward. Franke, alongside her business partner and mental health counselor, Jodi Hildebrant, was arrested on August 30 after Franke’s 12-year-old son, who had been staying at Hildebrandt’s house, disclosed instances of abuse. Franke has decided to plead guilty to the charges against her in a court appearance scheduled for Monday at the Washington County 5th District Court in Utah.

The charges against both women stem from a distressing incident involving Franke’s son, who escaped from Hildebrandt’s residence, sought refuge at a neighbor’s home, and revealed the alleged abuse. The Santa Clara-Ivins police in Utah reported that the child appeared to be emaciated and malnourished, with open wounds and duct tape around the extremities.

A subsequent search of the home uncovered Franke’s 10-year-old daughter in a similar condition. As a result, all four of Franke’s minor children were placed into state care.

Search warrants obtained by ABC News suggest that Hildebrandt utilized cayenne pepper and honey to treat the children’s wounds. Both Franke and Hildebrandt have been in custody since their arrest, with Hildebrandt yet to enter a plea to the charges.

In a statement released by her attorney, Winward, Franke is described as a devoted mother committed to constant improvement. The statement asserts that Franke was a victim of manipulation by Hildebrant, who allegedly isolated her from her extended family, older children, and her husband, Kevin Franke. This prolonged isolation purportedly led to a distorted sense of morality for Ruby Franke.

Since her incarceration, Franke has engaged in introspection, allowing her to reset her moral compass and comprehend the gravity of her actions, according to her attorneys. The statement indicates Franke’s commitment to taking responsibility for her role in the events leading to her arrest.

She is actively communicating with family members to mend relationships and contribute positively to the healing journey of her family.

Franke and Hildebrandt were business partners in ConneXions, an organization aimed at encouraging healing and facilitating personal growth through honesty, personal responsibility, and vulnerability.

Hildebrandt is listed as the founder, while Franke is identified as a certified mental fitness trainer. Additionally, Franke operated the “8 Passengers” YouTube channel, a platform that offered parenting advice but is now defunct.

In a recent development, Kevin Franke filed a divorce petition last month. In an interview with “Good Morning America” in September, an attorney for Kevin Franke revealed that he had been separated from Ruby for over a year and had no knowledge of the alleged abuse.

The unfolding events surrounding Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt have shocked followers and the broader community, underscoring the complexities and challenges faced by individuals in the public eye.
